Redeem a code

Got a Cook Along code — a Kickstarter backer reward, or from a creator you follow? Enter it here with your email address. Plus goes to the Cook Along account you sign in to with that email.

We email a 6-digit confirmation code to prove the address is yours. No email after a few minutes? Check that the code is typed exactly right — we only send one for a code that can be redeemed — and look in your spam folder.

You must sign in to the app with this email

Plus is added to the Cook Along account that signs in with the email address you entered — you must sign in to the app with this email. If you already have an account with it, Plus is added straight away (you'll see it next time you open the app); if not, it is added the moment you sign in with it (on the app's sign-in screen, choose Continue with email). An address that is never used to sign in gets nothing, and an unclaimed redemption is dropped after 90 days for a backer code, or 14 days for a creator code.

If you sign in with Apple and chose Hide My Email

Apple then gives us a private relay address (it ends in @privaterelay.appleid.com), not your real one, so a code redeemed with your real address can't find your account. Either enter the relay address here — on iPhone it's under Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple → Cook Along — or sign in to the app with Continue with email using the address you entered here.

Questions

I already pay for Plus. What happens to the free days?

They're counted from the end of the period you've already paid for. But a code doesn't pause your subscription: if auto-renew is on, your subscription renews and is charged on its renewal date as usual, and the renewed period then runs over the free days, so they add no extra time. If you'd rather use the free days instead of paying, turn off auto-renew in the App Store or Google Play before your renewal date; Plus then continues on the free days once the paid period ends.

Does Plus from a code renew or charge me?

No. Plus from a code runs for a set number of days and then ends; nothing is charged and nothing renews. If you'd like to keep Plus after that, you can subscribe in the app.

I'm a Kickstarter backer. Is there a deadline?

Yes: redeem your backer code within 3 months of the day we deliver the reward. Each backer code works once, for one account. Backer rewards are not refunded.

Who can use a creator's code?

A creator's code is for people new to Cook Along Plus: it works once per account, only for an account that has never had Plus, and only while the code's places last.

What if I delete my Cook Along account?

Any Plus days left from a code end with the account and can't be moved to another one.

I typed the wrong email address.

Write to hello@cookalongapp.com with your code and the right address, and we'll move it for you as long as it hasn't been used yet.
