Cooking with Coco
Is there a hands-free cooking app?
Yes — Cook Along. Its cooking assistant, Coco, walks you through a recipe by voice: each step, how much of each ingredient, and answers to the questions that come up while you cook, so you don't have to touch your phone with messy hands.
What is Coco?
Coco is the AI cooking assistant built into Cook Along. Open a recipe, tap Cook with Coco, and Coco guides you through it step by step. Coco already knows which recipe and which step you're on, so you never have to explain the dish first.
How do I talk to Coco?
Start every sentence with "Coco": "Coco, next step", "Coco, go back", "Coco, how much garlic?" Coco only responds to what starts with its name, so other people talking in the kitchen, or the TV, won't move your recipe along.
Does Coco listen all the time?
No. The microphone is only on during a cooking session you start, and Coco only acts on what you say after its name.
What can I ask Coco while I cook?
Anything about the dish in front of you: what's next, how much of an ingredient goes in, how long something should cook, or what a step means ("Coco, what does fold in mean?").
Can Coco see what's in my pan?
Yes. Keep your phone where its camera can see the pan. Whenever you're not sure — are the onions done yet, has the sauce thickened enough — just say "Coco, take a look," and Coco checks the pan and tells you.
Will Coco hear me in a noisy kitchen?
An extractor fan and a sizzling pan are the normal case. If Coco misses something, nothing moves on a guess — the step stays where it is, and you can say it again or tap. If it keeps missing you, move a little closer to the phone or speak up a bit.
Why doesn't Coco answer sometimes?
Usually Coco just didn't catch its name. Say it again, clearly, with "Coco" first — "Coco, what's next?"
Do I need headphones?
No. Coco is made to be heard across the kitchen from a phone on the counter. And you can always cook without talking — every step is on screen and you can tap through.
Recipes
Can I import recipes from TikTok, Instagram or YouTube?
Yes. Share a TikTok, Instagram or YouTube video — or any recipe page — to Cook Along, and it becomes a recipe with ingredients and steps that you can cook with Coco. The link back to the original stays with it.
What languages does Cook Along support?
The app itself is in English today. Recipes are a separate question: the recipes in the app can be read in English or Traditional Chinese, a recipe you import keeps the language it was written in, and Coco listens and talks in the recipe's language.
Price and account
How much does Cook Along cost?
Cook Along is free to download and free to start, and you can try cooking with Coco for free. Cook Along Plus is an optional subscription for cooking with Coco and importing recipes as much as you like; the price is shown in the app and in the App Store or Google Play before you subscribe.
How do I cancel Cook Along Plus?
Cancel through the store you subscribed in: on Android, Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions; on iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your Cook Along account does not cancel a subscription.
Do I need an account?
You can browse recipes and read the steps without one. To save recipes, import your own, or cook with Coco, sign in with Apple, Google, or your email address — there's no password to create. Signing in also keeps your saved recipes safe: they're stored with your account, so they aren't lost if you change or reset your phone, and they're there on any phone you sign in on, iPhone or Android.
Is Cook Along on iPhone?
Yes. Cook Along is on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android.
Privacy
Does Cook Along record my voice?
No. When you cook with Coco, your voice is processed as you speak so Coco can understand and answer, and then it's gone: we write no recording and keep no transcript of what you said or of what Coco said back. What we keep is a short note of what kind of request it was — like "next step" or "a question" — never the words, and those notes are deleted after 90 days.
What happens to the photo when Coco looks at my pan?
It's used to answer your question and discarded right away. It's never saved, never attached to your account, and never used to train anything.
Does Cook Along show ads or use my email for marketing?
No. There are no ads and no ad networks in Cook Along. If you sign in, your email is used to show which account you're signed in to — not for newsletters, marketing or profiling.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to your profile, then Account, then Delete account. Questions? Email hello@cookalongapp.com.
